Triton ATM Machine
Problem/Challenge
Bridge Production
Already well known for its kiosk style ATM machines, Triton, the second largest manufacturer of ATM machines, was anxious to launch the FT5000; a new thru-the-wall unit. The introduction timing was to coincide with a national show. Everything was ready, except last minute changes caused a delay in the plastic front cover. With a little less than four weeks until the show, the program was in serious trouble.
Solutions/Results
Rapid Tooling
General Pattern’s Rapid Tooling Center is equipped with high speed milling capabilities for tooling in excess of 40” x 100”. This coupled with a state-of-the-art structural foam plant (with machines over 1500 ton) enabled General Pattern to meet this challenge head-on. In addition, General Pattern’s in-house painting facility allowed us to deliver production representative parts in less than 3 weeks!
Benefit/Impact
Injection Moulding
Not only did Triton launch the FT5000 on time, but with only minor upgrades, the tooling was converted from Prototype to Production; eliminating the cost and time associated with re-tooling. Today General Pattern is producing over 2000 units a year and Triton has a one-stop solution for it’s low volume production needs.
