General
Pattern utilises 3 different methods of creating Polyurethane
tools. Vacuum Casting, PROMOLD and PROMOLD+. Vacuum Casting
is a traditional method widely used throughout the industry.
Most tools are made via this route are only capable of producing
20 off parts but are ideal for small parts. General Pattern's
PROMOLD and PROMOLD+ processes can deliver up to 250 and 5000
off parts respectively and the manufacturing process lends
itself to part sizes ranging from buttons to bumpers.
The
Applications
Ideal
for multiple replication. Parts
produced from tooling can emulate production
materials. Parts
can be over moulded for soft feel applications. Tools
can produce grained parts. Size
no limitation.
The
Advantages
Low
cost investment for tooling of larger runs. Tools
are designed and manufactured with inserts and coring. Ideal
for large parts such as IP's, Bumpers and plastic car panels. Speed
of manufacture, small tools just one day, larger tools in six
days. PROMOLD+
process produces structural RIM parts.
