Quality and Safety are important factors in Automotive Design, increasingly becoming a key point for all manufacturers and their Tier 1's.
The aim to develop Instrumentation Panels (IP's) that absorb impact energy resulting in zero trauma for vehicle occupants as well as making an interior that appeals to their target market.
Replicating production IP's for confirmation prototype (CP) build requirements has always been a great service General Pattern Company has uniquely offered utilising silicon and resin tooling for; self skinning foam, silicon pads, painted skin and vac form vinyl.
Following further advancement they have now taken it to a NEW level. The NEW service named 3S has been developed utilising production methods and the latest technology to develop Soft Feel IP's that replicate production that can be used for engineering, development and testing.
Skin - skin is created from nickel shell tooling and then slush moulded using production material - lead time 4.5 weeks cost £18,000/$34,000
Structure - IP main structure is created from a CNC Aluminium Injection Mold Tooling using DM20 (direct metal) inserts - lead time 5 weeks cost £97,500/$184,165
Soft Feel - a foam tool is created to hold skin on A surface and main IP structure on B surface production foam is injected into the tool adhereing parts together - lead time 3 weeks cost £28,000/$52,888
