Problem/Challenge Bridge Production
When projected sales of EZEM’s new high flow CT Injector provided difficult to predict, the international leader of contrest media and delivery systems was confused as to which tooling process would provide the best return on investment. With the most important Trade show of the year imminent, EZEM needed a fast, low cost solution.

Solutions/Results Rapid Tooling
Structural Foam was to be the final process, but that lead time was too long. Enter General Pattern’s ProMold+ process, a model based alternative tooling solution that could produce parts that met UL94V0 requirements in less
than 2 weeks. Combined with an in-house paint and decorating department meant 10 complete sets would be easily available by show date.

Benefit/Impact Injection Moulding
The product was introduced on time; at a cost of less than 20% that of steel tooling. Additionally, General Pattern went on to produce production tools using it’s proprietary Rapid Tool process at a cost of less than half that of traditional production tooling. Today, General Pattern is producing in excess of 1000 units (annually) of this 20 part assembly.
